Berlin - we're not lost we're taking the scenic routeWoke up today in the pouring rain and found out rats had eaten all our food - oh no! Packed up all our camping stuff with everything soaking wet and set off 2 hours later than planned heading for Berlin. Marky and Cat started and we played loadsa games then stopped for lunch and more ice cream before the disastrous navigation by yours truly began! I managed to get us totally lost on a straight road, then whilst Marky and Cat slept in the back me and ant tried to drive around Berlin - nightmare! We went up and down the same road 3 times and got totally lost because ant didn’t think we needed the map! Men! Saw lots of cool monuments on the way though, including the new holocaust memorial. Its pretty scary, but cool too. There are loadsa pillars set out on a grid, but on a hole, so as you walk into the middle the pillars become taller than you. Kinda hard to explain! Eventually found a hostel (9 hours later instead of 5! oops!) got dolled up then headed out to drink away the stress of driving around Berlin. Went to a really expensive bar that was so cool, full of palm trees and fairy lights, AND SAND ON THE FLOOR! Crazy! Had cocktails and shots then realised how poor we were so went to the most amazing bar and met some wicked Germans who entertained us ‘til 5 - was a top night! Berlin rocks! Munster - Axl the great!Hiya! Well our road trip has got off to a cracking start, our car, Axl, has been an absolute legend! Some how we made amazing time getting to Dover on Day 1 so were lucky enough to get an earlier ferry than planned and were in Dunkirk by 5 am Saturday morning. Ant and Marky were a bit sketchy driving on the wrong side of the road; but still we flew through France, Belgium and the Netherlands (with a quick kip half way- suprisingly comfortable!) and arrived in Munster Germany by 3pm Saturday afternoon - pretty darn good! Was pretty weird seeing where ant grew up, was pretty cool though. He made us relive the dream of jegersnitzel and spaghetti ice - both muchos yummyo! Cat and me have been swimming in arctic swimming pools and the camping has been pretty successful. Axl has been awesome at night, after 11 when the campsite is sleeping we can put the seats down in the back and sit comfortably drinking the night away! Axl’s also provided a couple of good nights sleep and has now got us all the way to Berlin. We didn’t get in ‘til 5 this morning but we have to get to Poland today (the longest of our drives - 7 hours!) so we are up early and ready to go!! Hope you are all well, will write again soon xxx |
