    Budapest- wash and go!

As in wash (in a spa) and go (on an open top bus)!

After a day of being trapped in the hostel, I was determined to see all of Budapest today. Unfortunately we woke up this morning to find 8 people sleeping in our 6 person dorm and were told by the stoner that she'd overbooked and that we had to get out! Nice! So my plans were interrupted by the mission of trying to find another hostel.

Budapest is a nightmare for finding hostels! Gave up pretty quick and headed to one of many thermal baths in the city. It was amazing! A huge outdoor pool that was 40 C and in the sunshine. The pool had different areas with features to give you massages and a rapids area that was so much fun! Splashed around for ages but not long enough, then took an open top bus (how touristy are we?!) around town to make sure we saw everything! And we really did, it took 2 whole hours! The buildings are really beautiful though, covered in really intricate architecture. We drove to the top of the hill on the Buda side of the Danube and could see the whole city. Pest is really flat and has all the shops and modern features of a town, whereas Buda is really hilly and has far more monuments and buildings. We also drove around Statue Park which has many gigantic statues, fairly appropriate name then.

We finished our stay in Budapest with another beautiful meal, coming to the conclusion that Hungarians like their flavours way too much! All the meals are so rich! Tried one last time to big it up in Budapest, but failed miserably! Just cannot find this nightlife that it’s famed for!

Budapest - most exciting day ever?

This hostel is defo weird! Got in last night to find the stoner who runs the place passed out on the sofa whilst people came and went, using her internet, and cooking in her kitchen!

Me and Marky were both ill so had to stay in this nightmare hostel all day - rubbish. By 1pm, having not seen any daylight all day, I decided to venture out into the unknown to try to meet up with ant and cat. Some weirdoes followed me for far enough for me to get scared and retreat to the hostel! What a lameo!

By 3.30 I was sooooo bored that I decided to get back on the saddle ready to give any weirdoes a knuckle sarnie and crossed the big bridge to Buda all on my own - is that an accomplishment or am I just a saddo?! Turns out it’s much prettier on the Buda side and the people are much friendlier! Obviously weirdoes are scared of bridges.

Met up with ant and cat and dragged Marcus out for some more expensive drinks. What a successful day! So far Budapest has cost a bomb!

Budapest - the most successful drive yet!

Had a fantastic drive day today! Set off at 10.30 am and by 2.30 pm we'd driven through beautiful valleys lined with pine trees and rivers and arrived in Budapest. Half an hour quicker than estimated! Good work team! and the sunshine has made such a difference, driving with the roof open and feet out windows really makes it feel more like a road trip and not just a long drive around England!

We’ve seen some crazy driving though. On the really narrow windy roads the Polish and Slovakians wiggle from side to side waiting to crawl past the car in front around totally blind corners, it was hilarious to watch! And way more exciting than when we watched the Grand Prix in Monaco! Driving around Budapest was a bit tricky, but just like all the other cities really. Gave us a good chance to see stuff though!

We are staying in the sketchiest hostel ever! There are 6 people in our dorm and none of the lockers or doors lock, the showers don’t have doors and the weirdest stoned woman runs the place! Should be interesting! Thanks again for the emails readers! Good to know someone’s reading this rubbish! Hope everyone at homes ok, miss you all heaps already! loadsa love, lani loo and ants xxxxxx
