Dolny kubin - the emptiest town ever?

Our ski lodge is amazing!! It looks like one giant sauna because of all the lovely wood! In the restaurant there's a really big warm log fire, and out of our windows there’s nothing but huge mountains covered in pine trees, and sheep, and goats! But they all wear cow bells (yes, even the pine tress, not) which are cute for all of 30 seconds! And it’s finally sunny! yay! It looks just like a postcard. We are staying in the Mala Fatra National Park which is a chocolate box-pretty 200 sq km mountain range. The valleys are beautiful, full of lakes and waterfalls, and the peaks are truly monumental.

Unfortunately ant is really ill so me cat and Marcus just dossed around the lodge until 3, then went to go quad biking, and discovered they don’t actually do it anymore - just great! so we got back in the car and drove to the nearest town to find something to do, forgetting that England is the only country in Europe that’s stupid enough to be open on a Friday afternoon, so everything was shut! Just great! We strolled up and down the deserted streets, past lots more pretty churches, in the sunshine, surrounded by mountains. It was really quaint and peaceful until a really freaky tune just suddenly started chiming really loudly from nowhere. I was waiting for wind up wooden men to start marching around the streets!

Retreated back to the lodge in confusion and terror, dumped our stuff, and went exploring. We climbed up the ski run, crossed a raging river of death without getting covered in mud and disappeared into the trees. Trampled over loadsa fallen trees, branches and flowers, dodged terrifying pits (fox holes), whilst avoiding the bears and the bear traps! The views of the surrounding mountains were amazing. We got back to the lodge covered in mud so went down to the sauna to sweat ourselves clean! Nice! Had ANOTHER quick ping pong tournament, gosh this trip rocks! Then feasted by the log fire on another ridiculously bid and delicious meal. I had deer goulash - with chips - I think the waitress though I was a complete heathen! The deer was really yummy though. Thoroughly enjoyed our last night of luxury at stupidly cheap prices, beer is cheaper than bottled water here!
